My Contribution

My role in the making of this game project is to supervise and brainstroming for most of the events in the game.
Making the idea for the game is quite easy, but once you start making it and developing it. The more problems you encounter and more challenges you have to overcome. It is not as simple as i thought it would be and it requires a lot of time to just made the first main idea. That is one of the main reason we changed the idea to a much simpler but also fun game. But in the end, I’m glad we can overcome this challenges and completed this game before the deadline.

Games Guideline

Introduction

The name of our game is “PAHLAWAN” which means “hero” in Indonesia is created by Mileno Valdo(2301929505) as the Scripting Leader, Calvin Scorpiano Halim(2301915374) as Scripting Supervisor,  and Christian Eric(2301944380) as Art Director.

Storyline

The game is about Indonesia being invaded by a group of cute but deadly aliens from outer space. Their reason coming to earth is only one, to steal all of our landmarks. There is only one person on Indonesia who can stop them. That person is what we called “Mbah Dukun”. Mbah Dukun has the power to stop the aliens from taking all of our landmarks.

Game Mechanics

PAHLAWAN has 3 stages, which the first two stages are Mbah Dukun fighting against the alien’s goons. The third and last stage is a boss fight. Our character has a health points and mana points, the mana points will go up for every attack that hit the enemy. Once the mana points reach 100, it can use his skill.

Change of the main concept of the project

On the first blog we already explain about the game main idea. But in the midst of the process, we encounter multiples problem that can be resolved but given the amount of time we have left. It is going to be rather difficult if we stick to it, so we decided to change idea which we thought was decent and less time consuming than the first one.

Game Project Proposal

For our second semester, Multimedia and HCI’s final project is to create a game using Construct 2 with the theme “Indonesia”. So, Me , Christian Eric and Mileno Valdo are making a 2D fighting game.

Inspired by the famous Nintendo game called Super Mario Bro’s. our game will have multiple characters based on Indonesia’s legends and folklore for example, Gatotkaca, Nyi Roro Kidul, and etc. Each character will also have their own super power and special power.

To start with, player can pick the character they need, and furthermore they need to pick where they need to battle. Much the same as any battling game, player need to knockout the rival until their wellbeing bar arrive at 0. Players need to win multiple times before dominating the game. Each round have a period cutoff of 5 minutes, in the event that neither of the characters wellbeing bar arrive at 0, at that point whoever has the most wellbeing point wins that round.

The background and the layout of the background are also based on Indonesia’s famous places, for example Mount Batur, Borobudur temple, and even in the midst of Jakarta.

In each battle, there will be a buff that appear at random in the background with the looks of Indonesia’s famous snack for example, Nasi tumpeng, Es cendol, and etc. Each snack contains different buff such as increase in ATK, DEFF, SPD, and others with a certain time limit from 10 to 30 seconds.
